Sola Caritas is a social enterprise that helps charities gain donations, volunteers, and promotions for their cause for free. We do this by helping companies market themselves online, then linking each online ad‐view with a donation to charities chosen by the viewer.
This is where our "Donate for Free" tool comes to the picture:
1. Companies load their video advertisements onto SolaCaritas.com;
2. upon completely viewing the ad, up to 50% of the ad fees paid to Sola Caritas will go to a charity of that user's choice.
3. Users can then complete a quick multiple‐choice survey, which results in an additional contribution - by the advertising company - to the same charity.
We also allow charities to post any volunteering opportunities and events they have, and users can find the one they are interested in and sign up for them. This way we help users to find volunteering opportunities that best fit their schedules as well as help charities to find more volunteers.
2. "Donate for Free",right..,so I don't have to pay?
YES! Users like you do not have to pay anything from your own pocket. Isn't it amazing that you can watch an interesting ad, donate to your charity and helping someone less fortunate -all at the same time!
3. Who are the people that Sola Caritas work with?

4. How does Sola Caritas select charity and company?
We have a standard ethic policy to guide us when we are choosing our partner companies. Please click the following link to view our ethic policy:
For Partner Charities, we make sure that they are registered charities or NGOs. We assure you that they are all legitimate. Don't worry!
5. I see Sola Caritas works with charitie...is Sola Caritas itself a charity too?
Sola Caritas is not a charity; it is a for-profit organization. Sola Caritas contributes up to 50% of the advertisement earnings to charity selected by the user. Sola Caritas regards itself as an innovative driver in gaining more funds for charities.
6. What is recommended video?
Sola Caritas is not a charity; it is a for-profit organization. Sola Caritas contributes up to 50% of the advertisement earnings to charity selected by the user. Sola Caritas regards itself as an innovative driver in gaining more funds for charities.
7. I don't see any recommended videos in my recommended video widget, what should I do?
Please press the "Donate for Free" link and search for videos either by searching for a specific company's video or by searching for a specific charity to donate to. However, do remember that videos not recommended to you generate less funds towards your chosen charity.
8. So how much am I contributing by using the "Donate for Free" tool?
Right, people always concern about return and how much their effort worth. First off, let me give you some facts - Sola Caritas receives $0.25 for every complete video view, $0.75 for every survey completed, Sola Caritas now has 14 demographic fields, and Sola Caritas has recommended videos and non-recommended videos.
Now we come to the calculation for recommended videos :
Amount of donation per advertisement viewed: %demographic completed * 0.5 * 0.25
Amount of donation per survey completed: %demographic completed * 0.5 * 0.75
For example, if you provide 14 of the 14 and you views an advertisement and completes a Survey, Sola Caritas shall make the following Contribution to the charity you have chosen:
(100% x 50% x $0.25) + (100% x 50% x $0.75)
= $0.125 + $0.375
= $0.50 raised for a charity with little work that you have to do!
Now we come to the calculation for non-recommended videos :
Amount of donation per advertisement viewed: $0.05
Note that no survey is required to be completed.
9. Each donation seems very little....I am not sure how much an impact I can make to the society.
Do you know that it only takes around $35 to raise a kid in Africa for a month? If you have completed all the demographic information, it only takes you 70 recommended videos advertisement and completed 70 short surveys. If each of them is 30 seconds, which is less than an hour of work on Sola Caritas (time to complete surveys is already factored in!) to save a kid for a month. If you work with 10 friends together, that is only about 2 videos and 2 surveys completed. I am sure you can spare a few minutes per month to save a kid!
Remember, all effort counts! Let's work together to gather all little effort to make an impact to the worth (as well as enjoying videos you like at the same time)!
10. Does Sola Caritas really give the money to the charities?
We notify our users how much we are giving to our partner charities. The number would be approved by our partner charities to make sure that the numbers are correct.
Charities have a database of how much each person has contributed to their funds through Sola Caritas. So you can contact the charities to double check the number you number you have on your dashboard and the number in their database. You know how much your effort has contributed (by tracking on your dashboard everytime you view an advertisement and perhaps completing a survey) and by comparing with the number the charity has, you know we are really giving the money to the charities!
Demographic Concerns
1. Why should I fill in the demographic information?
The more you fill in, more money will be given to your favourite charities! Please refer to - FAQ: So how much am I contributing by using the "Donate for Free" tool? - for more information on how much we give to charity.
