Thanks for visiting my social profile!
As a co-founder of SC, I've come across philanthropy in all walks of life. It's anything from being a DJ to translating Spanish, or from building a school to building a friendship with a war veteran.
There are many avenues to give back, and all the profiles on Sola Caritas to date have both inspired me and - at the same time - reminded me of the many challenges that still lie ahead for humanity.
So don't think of this as showing off your accomplishments because it is not. It is about sharing the issues you have addressed and believe to still be important in the days ahead.
Cheers and I look forward to seeing your profiles! |

Founder and Violist
| Macchiato String Quartet |
| October. 2006 - December. 2007 (1 year, 2 months ) - 50 Hours Total |
We played classical music at Commerce events to foster Faculty ambiance and class. Our initial performance was to raise money for a local charity outside of Starbucks (hence the name).
Our quartet then partnered with local businesses to raise funds for social causes (AIDS, literacy, etc.)

Co-Chair
| Queen’s Cancer Peer-to-Peer Support Program |
| September. 2006 - December. 2007 (1 year, 3 months ) |
| My role was to be social and make students who are affected by cancer feel comfortable sharing emotions. |

Head Coordinator
| Kingston Time Auction |
| October. 2006 - November. 2007 (1 year, 1 months ) |
The Kingston Time Auction is a novel way for communities to raise volunteer hours for various causes. Quite simply, corporations donate items (cameras, diamond necklaces, coffee-makers) and people bid on them using volunteer hours as currency instead of money.
In the first ever Time Auction held in Kingston, we were able to raise 705 volunteer hours for 14 different charities. |

Captain & Coach
| White Rock Rockers Softball Team |
| June. 1997 - August. 2005 (8 years, 2 months ) |
I worked to bring and foster local youth together in a healthy sport and environment. By trying to have a consistent coaching strategy, our team was able to win a silver in the 2004 Formosa Cup!

Volunteer Manager
| Rainforest Reptile Refuge |
| November. 2004 - December. 2004 (1 months ) |
During a high school co-op, I was able to be a full-time volunteer manager at the local reptile refuge, which was one of the only ones of its kind in North America.
My tasks included managing the rat house and feeding over 100 reptiles and amphibians.
As the only full-time volunteer at the time, I got to do many roles I never dared to... from breaking up python fights to scrubbing a snapping turtle's tank (don't put your hand past the middle of its shell...) |
